The State Budget impacts the work of nonprofits across the state. Whether your organization receives state grants or funding, works closely with another organization that receives state dollars, receives flow-through or matching federal dollars, or is looking to secure state dollars in the future, the upcoming public policy training FOLLOWING THE DOLLARS: A GUIDED TOUR THROUGH THE STATE'S BUDGET PROCESS will provide you with very useful information, including:

• the basics of the state budget;
• the timeline for the state's budget process;
• how the Governor's budget proposal is developed;
• how the budget travels through the legislature; and
• opportunities for input and advocacy in the budget process.

Craig Thiel from Citizens Research Council of Michigan will be presenting.

FOLLOWING THE DOLLARS: A GUIDED TOUR THROUGH THE STATE'S BUDGET PROCESS will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at GVSU's PEW Campus in downtown Grand Rapids. The cost to attend is $25, pre-registration is required, and the registration deadline is March 4.
