Policy PortalIssue #239 Share your vision for Michigan at the Michigan's Defining Moment Community Conversation on Sept 24! You are invited to participate in the Michigan's Defining Moment Community Conversation that will take place during Nonprofit Day on September 24, 2008, from 2:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Lansing Center. What kind of place do you want Michigan to be? What future does Michigan hold for you, your family, and your community? What sort of Michigan would make your friends and family want to stay here rather than moving away? From economic development and diversification to education, natural and cultural resources, diversity and civic participation, a number of factors impact the ability of Michigan to be a state comprised of strong communities that attract others and make our current residents excited about the future. Michigan's Defining Moment is a bipartisan statewide effort driven by state and community leaders seeking to move Michigan to a new era of prosperity. The public engagement campaign is a multi-year effort to heighten public awareness of the significant challenges and opportunities Michigan faces and tighten the focus of statewide leaders on a common ground agenda best suited to help Michigan achieve a new era of sustainable prosperity. As a Michigan nonprofit that cares deeply about the people of your community and has firsthand knowledge of the many factors contributing to the challenges of our state, you have expertise and a perspective that needs to be heard! The Community Conversations represent the largest citizen-engagement campaign in the state; the results of the conversations are widely distributed and read by business, community, media, and political leaders. Elected officials in both parties have credited MDM with setting an inclusive, thoughtful, and forward-looking agenda for Lansing to follow. Come participate in the Michigan's Defining Moment Community Conversation that is taking place during Nonprofit Day on September 24 from 2:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Lansing Center. Register Now for Nonprofit Day 2008 to take part in this important conversation! The full conference agenda is available here. Check out the program today and register to attend! Registration is $40 for MNA members, $55 for non-members and $25 for full-time students. MNA Action Network
