Policy PortalIssue #240 Invite Your State Representative and Senator to Join You at the Nonprofit Day Luncheon! Election season is upon us, and yet very few of the local, state and federal candidates are talking about the nonprofit sector and the issues of importance to our communities, those we serve and the resources we protect. Nonprofit Day 2008, taking place on September 24 at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing, will focus on the importance of articulating the value of your individual and our collective work to policymakers, the media and the general public. One of the highlights of Nonprofit Day will be the Luncheon Plenary titled "Election 2008 - What Will Happen to Michigan Nonprofits and the Issues we Support?" Far from your average pundit debate, this session is tailored to the nonprofit community to highlight how our issues, including the state budget, recruitment of talent, health care and economic development, will fare during the heat of the election season and in the new year. All members of the State Legislature have also been invited to attend the luncheon in order to hear directly from you about the issues of importance to your local communities. We encourage you to use this time in Lansing on September 24 to meet with your elected officials! Contact your State Representative and Senator today to invite them to join you at the luncheon and/or to schedule a personal visit later in the day.
If you have not already registered for Nonprofit Day 2008, now is the time to do so! Visit the MNA website at www.mnaonline.org to register for Nonprofit Day and to view the full conference agenda! The cost to attend is $40 for MNA members, $55 for non-MNA members and $25 for full-time students. I want to register for Nonprofit Day. MNA Action Network
