Learn about Framing and Delivering Messages, the Role of Art in Social Change, and much more!

In addition to the exciting plenary sessions that are scheduled to take place during this year's Nonprofit Day conference on September 24, the day's agenda will also feature a number of smaller workshops that focus on specific topics of importance to nonprofits. Some of the workshops that you will have the opportunity to participate in during Nonprofit Day include:

Boot camp for Framing and Delivering Messages
This interactive workshop will help you "get in shape" to effectively communicate messages to the media, public and policymakers. Presenter: Kelly Rossman-McKinney, The Rossman Group

The Role of Art in Social Change
Presenters will demonstrate ways in which art in many forms impacts social change. Key examples will include songs, drama, photography, posters, video and film that have advanced movements, including understanding poverty, recognizing the costs of war, advancing civil rights, making the case for affordable housing, and more. Presenters: Neeta Delaney, ArtServe Michigan and Jane Robinson, Armory Arts Village.

Nonprofits Vote!
For nonprofits and the country, 2008 is yet another historic election. But have nonprofits been heard? With more at stake than ever for the sector, this workshop will cover easy and effective ways to incorporate voter registration, education and mobilization into your ongoing efforts. Presenters: Tim Delaney, National Council of Nonprofit Associations and Robin Lynn Grinnell, MissionFIRST.

Capitol Update
What's new with the IRS Form 990, audit standards, regulation of the sector, and more? Join us for a discussion on the latest state and federal policy news impacting the operation and governance of your organization. Presenters: Rob Collier, Council of Michigan Foundations and Erin Skene-Pratt, Michigan Nonprofit Association.

Moving Michigan Forward
With high unemployment rates, one can't help but wonder what the future holds for Michigan. Presenters will share the details of their projects, and possibly try to enlist your help, to ensure a better future for this great state! Presenters: John Bebow, The Center for Michigan and David Waymire, Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications.

You will find all these sessions and much more at Nonprofit Day 2008, taking place on September 24 at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing. The registration deadline is fast approaching. If you have not already done so, register now!The cost to attend is $40 for MNA members, $55 for non-MNA members, and $25 for full-time students. September 12 is the registration deadline.
