Erin Skene-Pratt

Erin's pictureErin Skene-Pratt serves as the Senior Director of Public Affairs. MNA's public policy efforts are affiliated with the Council of Michigan Foundations. With MPPI, Erin advocates to Michigan and Federal policymakers on behalf of the Michigan nonprofit sector, trains nonprofit leaders on best practices for advocacy and promotes research to create a better understanding of the scope and operation of Michigan nonprofits. Erin authored Michigan’s Public Policy Handbook: A Lobbying Guide for 501(c)(3) Nonprofits and Nonprofit Advocacy: A Michigan Primer. She also edited the publications Setting the Record Straight on Michigan’s Nonprofit Community and Guide to Getting Good Media Coverage. Prior to working at MPPI, Erin held the position of Statewide Project Coordinator on Campaign Finance Reform for the League of Women Voters of Michigan. As project coordinator, she was responsible for recruiting, educating and mobilizing volunteers to further the League of Women Voters efforts. Erin graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. In furthering her education, Erin received a Masters in Public Administration from Western Michigan University and a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the Center on Philanthropy. Erin currently serves as a Training Fellow for the Center for Lobbying in the Public Interest in Washington, DC and as a Trustee for Boarshead Theatre in Lansing.
