Get Out the Vote

Encouraging others to vote and informing voters of the important issues to those you represent and the resources you protect is an essential part of being a member of the nonprofit community. As we move towards the 2004 Elections, please consider doing the following:

Have a “register to vote” button on your Web site. You can copy the one on the MNA home page and link it directly to the Michigan Secretary of State.

Adjust your personnel policies to allow employees to take time-off to vote without having to use their sick or vacation time.

Keep voter registration forms at your office, in a visible place, where clients/visitors/volunteers/others can access easily. You can obtain voter registration forms from your local clerk. If you need more specific information, contact Erin Skene at skeneeri@mnaonline.org

Create an “Issue Awareness Piece” that highlights the critical issues that your organization cares about and share this with voters. If you are a 501(c)(3) do not suggest specific candidates to support or oppose.
