Nonprofit Town Hall Meeting Scheduled

Changes to federal oversight of nonprofits are on the horizon. Now is the opportunity for the Michigan nonprofit community to make its voice heard regarding policy changes that could impact the daily work of every nonprofit in the state. The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Council of Michigan Foundations and Michigan Nonprofit Association invite you to a town hall meeting of the Michigan nonprofit sector.

Wednesday, April 27, 2005
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Westin Southfield-Detroit
1500 Town Center
Southfield, MI 48075

At the encouragement of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, the national organization INDEPENDENT SECTOR created the Nonprofit Panel on the Nonprofit Sector which is making recommendations to Congress to improve the oversight and governance of nonprofit organizations.

The National Panel on the Nonprofit Sector will be presenting its final report to the Senate Finance Committee this spring, and this town hall meeting and others around the country are important forums for nonprofits to provide feedback and influence the final report as well as impact future Congressional action.

Panel presenters:

  • William C. Richardson, President, W.K. Kellogg Foundation
  • Dorothy Johnson, President Emeritus, Council of Michigan Foundations
  • Sam Singh, President and CEO, Michigan Nonprofit Association

The recently released “Interim Report to the Senate Finance Committee” is available on the web at www.nonprofitpanel.org
