Donor Centered Fundraising
Kick-off for the morning session featuring international
author and presenter Penelope Burk, President of Cygnus
Applied Research, Inc. and Burk & Associates, Ltd. Penelope
is a senior fundraiser with over 30 years experience and
has held management positions in both fundraising and
communications with arts, social service and sports/
recreation charities. Her most recent book, Donor Centered
Fundraising will be available for purchase.

1:00 p.m.
It’s Not Just Talk: The Donor Conversation Model
The afternoon session will feature Bernadette Doré, J.D.,
CRFE, Director, Major Gifts and Gift Planning, at the
Detroit Institute of Arts, who will conduct an interactive
presentation entitled “It’s Not Just Talk: The Donor Conversation
Model” focusing on donor’s true motivations for
giving to their favorite causes. Bernadette has held senior
development roles at United Way Community Services and
Oakland University and was an attorney at the UAW and
also in private practice.
