Diana Algra

Diana Rodriguez-Algra currently serves as the Executive Director of the Volunteer Centers of Michigan, an association that represents the 32 Volunteer Centers in our state. Prior to this she was the Service-Learning Coordinator for the Michigan Community Service Commission. In this role she was responsible for advancing the use of service-learning among policy and educational organizations. Her other positions have included serving as the Volunteer Services Liaison for the Family Independence Agency within the director office. Diana served for four years as the first Director of AmeriCorps State/ National programs at the Corporation for National and Community Service. In this position she oversaw the selection and distribution of over $526 million dollars in federal support for National Service Programs.

Right before she left Michigan for Washington, she served as the first director of Michigan Community Service Commission established by Governor Engler in 1991. Her background also includes serving as the first director of Michigan Campus Compact, one of the first state level Campus Compacts in the country. She also served as the Director of Women’s Programs at Michigan State University for over nine years.

Her community involvements include serving on the boards of the following organizations: The Capital Region Community Foundation; Sparrow Health System Community Council; and the Capital Area United Way Community Impact Committee. She as serves as a “Lunch Buddy” for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lansing program.

She holds an undergraduate degree in Industrial Psychology and a Masters Degree in Labor and Industrial Relation both from Michigan State University.
