The ConnectMichigan Alliance merges into the Michigan Nonprofit Association. Kyle Caldwell is named as the President and CEOJune 6, 2007 The ConnectMichigan Alliance will merge into the Michigan Nonprofit Association effective July 1, 2007. The ConnectMichigan Alliance is a statewide partnership that promotes a life-long ethic of volunteer service in Michigan. The merger provides the opportunity to join the nonprofit and volunteer sectors to create a more powerful, effective and innovative support structure for nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions and volunteer centers. The Michigan Nonprofit Association will work to ensure that every Michigan community is served by a vibrant nonprofit sector with a steady stream of engaged volunteers. As part of the merger, MNA will host the work of two statewide volunteer and service organizations, the Michigan Campus Compact and the Volunteer Centers of Michigan. In total MNA’s staff will grow to 39 employees and to $5.5 million budget which will strengthen MNA’s outreach, advocacy and services to our membership, the legislature and service and volunteerism based organization across the state. The MNA Board of Trustees also unanimously selected Kyle Caldwell as the next President and CEO of the Michigan Nonprofit Association effective July 1, 2007. Kyle Caldwell is currently the President and CEO of the ConnectMichigan Alliance. Kyle has worked in the public and private sectors including serving both Governors Engler and Granholm as the Executive Director of the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) - a state agency that builds a culture of service by providing vision and resources to strengthen communities through volunteerism. Earlier this year Sam Singh announced that he will be stepping down as CEO after ten years of exemplary service. Sam has agreed to remain supportive to our work by serving a six-month transition period as a Senior Advisor to Kyle Caldwell. |
