Nonprofit Week Things to Do

Nonprofit Week 2007
September 23-29

Over 23,000 charities serve our state each week from education to health care; from social services to the arts and from religion to the environment. This special week is designated to raise the awareness of the services provided and the resources protected by Michigan nonprofits. A major highlight of this celebration will be the annual Nonprofit Day in Lansing. At this one-day conference participants will learn about the public policy topics impacting all nonprofits and how the nonprofit sector can work together to address these concerns. As an excellent time to showcase the work of individual organizations and the sector as a whole, the following are suggestions for celebrating Nonprofit Week in your community.

Tips on Celebrating Michigan Nonprofit Week

Use the Nonprofit Week logo
On mailings, newsletters, letterhead, and envelopes, feature the Nonprofit Week logo to remind your community what services nonprofits are providing. Download the Nonprofit Week Logo (right click on the image and choose "Save Picture As..." to download to your computer).

Say Thanks
Write personal thank-you notes to your board members, donors, other volunteers, and support staff.

Target Your Clients

Spotlight Your Organization’s Initiatives
Nonprofit Week allows you to easily grab their attention and it’s a great time to promote some of your nonprofit’s goals and how you are accomplishing them.

Target the Media
Invite the members of the news media to talk with board members or even clients about the valuable service you provide.

Schedule a Tour
Invite legislators, business leaders, and elected officials to visit your agency. Take them on a tour and explain your services. Be sure to have a camera to record this activity.

Involve your Constituents
Include information about Nonprofit Week in your newsletter or publication.
