Overcoming the challenges of accessibility and brevity is vital for institutions publishing research. Use the following suggestions to make the impact of your research stronger.

  • Make the presentation of your research as user-friendly as possible with clearly marked sections and sidebars with additional information.
  • Define important terms and provide examples.
  • Anticipate readers’ questions and answer them in the publication.
  • Use graphs or charts to illustrate your findings.
  • Break information into short paragraphs or lists.
  • Use different colors and sizes of fonts.
  • Include footnotes and references with further information for readers.
  • Note who prepared the research, for whom it was prepared, and contact information for each.
  • For examples, consult MPPI’s Spotlight Series and the Michigan Association for Evaluators (MAE).
