Ballet Chelsea is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides high caliber dance training, arts education, and performance opportunities to students throughout southeast Michigan.

The Director of Business Management is responsible for leading the sustainable execution of strategic direction (set by the Board of Directors) and artistic vision (set by the Artistic Director) while overseeing day-to-day operations and effectively managing and allocating resources for our non-profit organization. The position reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible to:

  • Lead the development and administration of the annual budget
  • Manage financial contract agencies ensuring all financial processes and internal controls are effective and comply with state and federal regulations for a 501(c)(3) organization
  • Support human resource activities through proactive review and execution of policy and procedure, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Provide support for the execution of the strategic plan including managing and developing the volunteer network to support strategic initiatives
  • Negotiate and manage contracts relating to the building and the services required including insurance policies
  • Manage business software/applications and supervise general operations staff, including the registrar
  • Lead in liaising with marketing consultants, and other regional entities, as appropriate, to develop strong collaborative relationships that broaden the reach of Ballet Chelsea
