The Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson’s Wellness has partnered with Mondo Unlimited to find their next Chief Program Officer. The Center will open in Farmington Hills, Michigan in mid-2025 and is the first of it’s kind. The Center will offer daily programs and activities free of charge to people living with Parkinson’s disease, their families and caregivers. The Center will serve as a beacon of hope, help and inspiration to those battling the disease, and will build a community of support and compassion while also researching and developing better movement-based programs. Over 60,000 class hours will be offered each year.
The Center is being opened, funded and supported by the Kirk Gibson Foundation.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Program Officer (CPO) is a key member of the executive leadership team and will lead all elements of program development and management. Like other executives of the Center, the successful candidate must embrace the role of cultural leader within the organization and will lead a team of over 20 certified trainers and more than 50 volunteers.
The CPO is responsible for all program planning, operating and staffing. S/he is responsible for working with the CEO on program direction and supporting organizational strategy. Using data and outcomes measurement, the CPO will continuously assess and review program processes and results, ensuring that results are consistent with established evidence-based best practices. Further, consistent with the Kirk Gibson Center’s commitment to being a research-led institution, the CPO will, as much as possible, drive innovation in Parkinson’s-focused care.
Essential Functions
Client Relations
- Accessible to client and care partners, particularly in communicating changes in assessment scores and new initiatives
External Relationships/Outreach
- Develops and strengthens partnerships with program-related stakeholders and potential collaborators
- Represents KGC at external forums committees and task forces, serves as Center’s program expert
- Builds strategic partnerships to leverage resources, expertise and networks for Center program success
- Reserves 10% of time allocation for fundraising
Professional Development, Training & Supervision
- Runs regular team meetings and check-ins with direct reports and provides ongoing support and professional development to paid and volunteer program staff
- Works with Operations Director to attract, recruit, develop, retain paid and volunteer program staff
- Approves contractor timesheets
- Supervises Client Relations Manager
Program Excellence
- Plans, supervises, evaluates and enhances all Center programs
- Develops signature programs and initiatives
- Establishes measurable, achievable program area goals and objectives and monitor progress
- Works collaboratively with Administration Director to ensure safe and appropriately equipped class spaces
- Implements assessment process
- Teaches 1-2 classes weekly
- Ensures adherence to The InMotion Approach™
Strategic Leadership
- Fosters a high-performance, nurturing culture
- Stays abreast of new developments in PD evidence-based wellness programs
- Develops annual budget, monitors progress
- Works collaboratively with Development Director in fundraising activities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of best practices in program design and execution for community-based wellness centers for PD
- Commitment to the Foundation’s culture of teamwork, compassion, collaboration and perseverance
- Ability to work effectively in teams through strong mentoring and coaching experience and building the capabilities of teams whose members have different levels of experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including high-level diplomacy and an ability to propose a “third way” in resolving conflicts

Desired Qualifications
- At least ten years of professional experience overall, with a minimum of five years of senior leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; master’s degree preferred
- Recognized accreditation as a fitness professional
- Parkinson’s-specific qualifications in related therapies (e.g. Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery, Yoga, Dance, Spinning)
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range of $125K - $135K
