Climate and Energy Justice Lead

The position is responsible for:

Developing departmental goals and action plans related to current energy efficiency efforts

Developing education and awareness campaigns to convey the importance of energy democracy

Leading legislative campaigns for energy justice

Supervising program staff to ensure clarity of performance expectations and outcomes.

Building and nurturing relationships with (1) social justice organizations, organizers, activists, allies, (2) manufacturers, retailers, trades, and key community stakeholders aligned with energy efficiency and clean energy products and services and (3) local politicians

Planning and implementing civic engagement and advocacy activities

Assessing and leveraging opportunities for building support for our agenda through coalition-building, grassroots organizing, media coverage, and message development.

Participating on and providing strategic advice to climate-related work groups 

Developing and managing program/project budgets


4 years of work experience in energy efficiency/democracy/environmental justice with at least one year of program/personnel management experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or training

Self-directed with the ability to anticipate challenges within cross-functional, complex structures

Strong organizational, interpersonal and group facilitation skills.

Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.

Proven ability to challenge traditional approaches with a focus on creativity and innovation

Ability to operate standard office equipment and programs (i.e., MS Word, Excel, email, etc.).
