Michigan Nonprofits Call on Congress to Pass Covid-19 Relief Legislation

Michigan Nonprofit Association congratulates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their victory as president-elect and vice president-elect. Harris is the first woman of color to become vice president of the United States and this historic moment represents the millions of minority women who have often been historically underrepresented and overlooked.

This election shattered records with a turnout rate of more than 66 percent. Experts say the 2020 voter turnout rate could hit heights not seen since 1900—a time when white men were the only people eligible to vote. Michigan nonprofits played a vital role in civic engagement this year including making the push for Michiganders to fill out the 2020 Census and boosting voter turnout. Michigan counties saw a higher turnout this election particularly among groups with historically low voter turnout.
