The Michigan Nonprofit Association has launched an effort to collect racial demographics on the leadership and staff of Detroit nonprofits.
The goal of the Nonprofit Leadership Census is to build a support network among nonprofits led by Black, indigenous and people of color in Detroit to connect them with organizations looking to support them and elevate their stories, MNA said.
"This network could create new opportunities for Detroit communities," Nellie Tsai, social innovation officer at Michigan Nonprofit Association, said in a news release. "By working together, we are creating robust pathways so that BIPOC-led nonprofits can connect and lean on each other for support and resources."
