There’s no way to sugarcoat it: 2025 has been one of the hardest years Michigan’s nonprofit sector has faced since the pandemic. The federal funding freeze early this year created immediate uncertainty for thousands of organizations that serve as the backbone of our communities. Nonprofits cannot be expected to shoulder the consequences of federal dysfunction, and yet they do, time and again, because we refuse to abandon the people who rely on us.
