Michigan Nonprofit Association Mounts Statewide Push to Protect Medicaid Benefits | Crains Detroit

As many as 355,000 Medicaid recipients in Michigan could be at risk of losing coverage under new federal requirements set to take effect in January. A statewide nonprofit network is mobilizing to make sure they don’t.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, or H.R. 1, the budget reconciliation bill signed into law by federal lawmakers in July 2025, includes major changes to the Medicaid program, including the mandatory implementation of work requirements for adults ages 19-64, semi-annual eligibility renewals and reduced retroactive coverage for enrollees.
