Assistant Director of Development – College of Education

Position Summary

The College of Education at Michigan State University seeks a collaborative, relationship-oriented, Assistant Director of Development to join its Advancement team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, you will serve as a frontline fundraiser managing a portfolio of 75–100 prospects to build meaningful donor relationships and secure philanthropic support for strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
- Frontline Fundraising: Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects; craft customized donor proposals and stewardship plans.
- Pipeline Development: Partner with Annual Giving and communications teams to identify potential major gift donors and support engagement initiatives (e.g., Give Green Day).
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with the Dean, faculty, and University Advancement colleagues to align donor passions with college priorities; maintain accurate prospect records.

Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Communications, PR, Marketing, Business, or related field, plus 1–3 years of experience in fundraising, higher education, or marketing (or equivalent combination).
- Desired: 3+ years in higher education advancement; proven donor cultivation success; knowledge of charitable gift tax laws.
