GEM Senior Project Manager

 JOB TITLE:            Senior Project Manager, Global Epicenter of Mobility (GEM)

REPORTS TO:          Executive Vice President, GEM

FSLA STATUS:     Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager will serve as the main project manager for the Detroit Regional Partnership (DRP) Build Back Better Regional Challenge (BBBRC) Grant – Global Epicenter of Mobility. The candidate will oversee, on behalf of the DRP, adherence to grant requirements and support partners and vendors in achieving committed deliverables. They will be responsible for preparation and submittal of grant reporting documents as required for EDA grant administration. This position will be responsible for convening the GEM co-recipients and supporting convenings of other GEM councils and boards. The Senior Project Manager will also function as Corporate Secretary to the Southeast Michigan Grants Coalition (SEMGC) Board.

 DRP was awarded a Build Back Better (BBBRC) Phase 2 federal grant through the Economic Development Administration (EDA), focused on mobility. This position is a member of the team managing this 4-year grant.

 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the following throughout the grant period:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT & TRACKING

  • Administer GEM Central’s Salesforce system to ensure contact information, data and associated fields are kept current.
  • Administer the Asana project management system to monitor team progress and ensure coordinated activity, communication, and successful delivery of grant
  • Proactively communicate with internal staff to establish timelines and deliverable due dates; follow up with support and persistence to ensure deadlines are met with quality deliverables.
  • Oversee grant-related contractual work to ensure consultant milestones are met and expectations for product deliverables are clearly communicated and monitored; coordinate related engagement with key internal stakeholders.
  • Support internal GEM team on development of partner communications and meeting scheduling.
  • With the Executive Vice President, support GEM-related coordination and communication among all internal staff.

CONVENING

  • Create and manage an annual schedule of initiative convenings, including SEMGC Board of Directors meetings, convenings of the GEM Central Work Groups, project partners, full coalition, etc.
  • Manage associated planning and scheduling of all internal preparatory meetings before convenings.
  • Plan and manage all convening logistics details including communications, agenda development and dissemination, venues , food and beverage, and attendance
  • Synthesize discussions from each convening, document needed follow-up, and share learnings with appropriate audiences.
  • Serve as the Corporate Secretary to SEMGC Board, manage meeting minutes production and all associated governance and housekeeping requirements.

REPORTING

  • Lead and coordinate all grant reporting, including development of all initial drafts and data summaries for reports.
  • Establish clear and efficient workflows to ensure latest activities, inputs and outcomes are appropriately captured in reporting drafts.
  • Develop and communicate clear preparatory timelines to ensure adequate review and engagement by key stakeholders.
  • Lead relationship with grants compliance consultant, ensuring regular interactions and engagement with other grant staff members, as necessary.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

All DRP team members are expected to be technically competent and committed to continuous development of their skills. The following skills, knowledge and education or certifications are specifically required for this position: 

  • Knowledge of the Southeast Michigan mobility industry highly
  • Knowledge and experience with federal grants
  • Knowledge of Michigan specific companies/automotive industry a
  • Demonstrated mastery of organization, process development, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Strong sense of personal drive and accountability, professional judgment, and solutions
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively in a team-driven
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with efficiency and focus on detail and
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in social science, economics, public management, statistics, or other related field of study.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power
  • Familiar with Salesforce and Asana
  • General knowledge of policy and procedure related to education, workforce, community and/or economic development.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and an LCD screen, hearing, and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone.
