The successful candidate will have extensive experience with the management, implementation and growth of sophisticated fundraising programs which include major and planned gifts, annual giving, corporate, foundation and government grants, special events, donor relations and stewardship. The Chief Philanthropy Officer will work closely with several contracted grant writers and a team of public relations and fundraising consultants and support staff. Additionally, the CPO will strategically collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and represent the organization at the highest levels in the philanthropic community.
In addition to management and leadership responsibilities, the Chief Philanthropy Officer will manage a top prospect portfolio of major gift donors and prospects and develop an education and engagement strategy for philanthropic and community leaders regarding LAHC. A critical priority for the CPO will be broadening the base of support by building a robust individual giving program. Accordingly, the successful candidate must be comfortable with face-to-face solicitations and prospect cultivation best practices as well as developing effective working relationships with Board leadership. The CPO will also be responsible for understanding the depth and breadth of LAHC’s programs and will work collaboratively with staff leaders on grant opportunities, programmatic fundraising initiatives and the development of compelling messages designed to inspire philanthropy.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must, along with critical thinking, creativity, attention to detail and the ability to manage goals and objectives without supervision. Capital Campaign experience is desirable as well as a proven track record of continued career progression demonstrating increasing responsibilities.
