Roeper is currently recruiting for a full-time Special Events Associate for our Development Team.
Position Summary
The Special Events Associate is responsible for creating, coordinating, implementing and fulfilling fundraising and community events that engage the community in supporting the school’s mission. Responsibilities include contributing to the Development Team through event planning, production, coordination, and overseeing events. The Special Events Associate is the primary coordinator and point-person for fundraising events, including major biennial and annual fundraisers, and signature special events.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the creative engine, coordinator and primary point-person for event planning and execution of fundraising and community events
- Coordinate logistics for multiple annual, periodic and special events hosting up to 500 guests
- Conceptualize and promote events designed to support the school’s mission and Development team objectives
- Coordinate, implement and fulfill major and signature biennial and annual events including scholarship dinner and auction
- Support event coordination for recognition events, legacy events, and alumni gatherings
- Build and leverage relationships with community and constituent groups to secure engagement and sponsorships
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure event success
- Oversee vendor relationships and contracts
- Oversee and serve as primary point person for volunteer event committees
- Collaborate with team to create, coordinate, and/or support marketing and communications using various mediums
- Support analysis of major donor and sponsorship prospects for special events
- Coordinate with Development colleagues to post donations to fundraising management database
- Maintain calendar of due dates of campaign progress and final reports
- Coordinate, participate and attend events and functions to support Development activities
- Represent the Development Department at select school community functions
- Demonstrate commitment to fulfilling Development and School objectives by participating, and attending events including evening and weekend functions
- Support purchasing for events and the “Shops at Roeper”
- Embrace and contribute to The Roeper School’s goal of providing a multicultural and culturally relevant program

- Direct knowledge and/or experience with non-profit auctions
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in database management, non-profit fundraising/relationship management software, and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of fundraising and advancement systems and advancement management procedures
- Ability to form collaborative work relationships
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work in order to perform responsibilities in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- A collegial approach and congenial temperament
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree
- Three to five years of fundraising and special event experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
