Residential Services Director

LEADERSHIP

  • Participate in agency strategic planning efforts 
  • Work with the Housing and Supportive Services Department Director and Education, Outreach & Welcoming Department Directors to ensure high quality services are provided to all clients, ensure smooth transition of clients into and out of services/ programs, and ensure effective communication and cooperation between clinical and other program staff 
  • Foster and manage partnerships with relevant providers to enhance services and ensure coordination of care  
  • Assist in developing goals, objectives, and outcome measures for each program.  Produce monthly reports for each core program including required statistics and evaluation of service effectiveness. 
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for programs and services 
  • Be available to enhance community understanding and integration of runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth through community presentations to school, civic and community agencies. 
  • Assist in the preparation of the program budget 
  • Assess and monitor that policies and procedures related to purchases, expenditures and reimbursement are followed by all staff members 
  • Participate in the development and implementation of community collaborations involving multiple stakeholders to support communities of interest affecting Ozone House clients, as needed 
  • Participate in forums, conduct activities, and support staff efforts on projects or initiatives that reduce stigma, increase integration, and promotes opportunities for youth within the community, as needed 

MANAGEMENT

  • Assist with grant writing and reporting as needed   
  • Work with the agency’s Leadership Team to develop, implement, and review the agency's evaluation and quality improvement plan 
  • Monitor agency outcomes as well as service integrity and effectiveness to demonstrate Ozone House’s impact on youth, families, and the community and ensure compliance with internal and external expectations and standards 
  • Review and monitor program budgets and communicate needs and/or concerns to the Associate Director 
  • Make recommendations regarding purchasing and other resource allocation 
  • Provide and/or delegate client services treatment and direct service interventions to youth and families in the absence of the assigned staff when appropriate  
  • Assure effective assignment and distribution of staff and other resources, including assignment of coverage during any staff absences, vacancies, and vacations 
  • Establish mechanisms for regular communication and interaction at the program/team level 
  • May be required to assist with “on-call” back up support to on-call staff and offer supervisory consultation for other agency issues that arise outside of normal business hours, on a rotating basis with the other Department Directors 

 SUPERVISION, COACHING, AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

  • Ensures that direct reports receive regular supervision in accordance with agency policy, up to weekly, but no less than monthly, to enable staff to fulfill the performance expectations of their job in accordance with agency philosophy, mission, and policy.  Document supervision activities, completing counseling record as needed 
  • Conduct observation of staff-client interactions quarterly and develop quality improvement plans as necessary 
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, facilitate the recruitment, screening, hiring and on-boarding of staff and volunteers 
  • Coach and supervise by communicating a positive attitude, create an environment for success, encourage cooperation, foster leadership in others, lead by example, recognize and share success, manage conflict, and build a cohesive team  
  • Design and deliver orientation and training for new and existing staff to enable them to fulfill their jobs according to agency mission, philosophy and policy, and to help them learn and stay current with best practice  
  • Provide regular feedback to assigned staff on performance strengths and training needs and implement performance improvement or disciplinary actions when needed according to the agency’s personnel policies 
  • Present written performance evaluations for supervisees completing their orientation period and to all others on an annual basis, or more often as needed.  Contribute to performance evaluations for other staff 
  • Ensure staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs  
  • Convene team meetings a regular basis (at least monthly) for the purposes of in-service training, agency/program updates, feedback and team-building 
  • Provide consultation and support to on-call staff in the event of a client crisis or other emergency. 
  • Monitor approved service plan goals and objectives for each case assigned to the unit, consistent with agency policies and procedures and the requirements of regulatory and funding bodies 
  • Supervise, review, and monitor service activity recording and documentation to assure compliance with regulatory bodies 
  • Assist staff in developing professional development plans that address enhanced growth and development as well as any current deficits 
  • Assess and monitor the knowledge and skills of assigned staff and makes recommendations to the Director of Programs concerning staff training, which would result in the improved delivery of services 
  • Verify hours reported by residential staff and submit timesheets for payroll 

RESIDENTIAL DUTIES

  • In coordination with the Residential Coordinator, complete scheduling and ensure adequate shift coverage for residential services, including providing direct shift coverage during gaps and/or emergencies  
  • Review residential funding requests for program activities and process client rent payments. 
  • Attend and contribute to case reviews for residential clients. Ensure that important information or decision are communicated to residential staff 
  • Ensure timely acquisition of groceries and program supplies  
  • Monitor building maintenance issues for residential programs 
  • Review client handbook on a regular basis and make updates as necessary 
  • Assess and monitor to ensure that services are culturally competent, trauma informed and responsive to diverse populations and needs 

OTHER DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Be familiar with and use the NASW Code of Ethics, State of Michigan's Mental Health Code and Ozone House policies and procedures to guide practice and decision making 
  • Serve as a member of the agency’s Leadership Team to support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts, social justice strategies, as well as a safe and productive organizational culture   
  • Work with the Leadership Team, other staff and community partners to develop and implement programs and services that support best practices in youth Systems of Care 
  • Attend agency committees and community meetings and provide agency leadership as assigned.   
  • Participate in monthly all-staff meetings
