Asst Director of Development, COL / Development Officer I

Assistant Director of Development – College of Law

 

Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI)

 

Michigan State University Advancement is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and driven Assistant Director of Development to champion the fundraising priorities of the MSU College of Law.

 

In this dynamic role, you will manage a portfolio of approximately 75 major donor prospects, focusing on face-to-face cultivation and solicitation for gifts of $100,000 or more. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, you will bridge the passions of alumni and friends with the College of Law’s endowment, capital, and academic priorities.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Conduct 16–17 strategic personal visits per month to drive major gift "moves."

 

  • Partner closely with Law school faculty, leadership, and volunteers to articulate funding needs.

 

  • Draft compelling proposals, appeals, and stewardship materials.

 

  • Travel regionally to engage with constituents and alumni.

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • Experience:1–3 years of progressive experience in professional fundraising, higher education advancement, public relations, or marketing.

 

  • Skills:Exceptional interpersonal communication, familiarity with Moves Management, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. A valid driver’s license is required.
