Mentoring Coordinator

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct volunteer and client enrollments which include individual orientations, interviews, child safety education and complete the entire enrollment process according to BBBS standards.

Ensure high level proficiency in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function.

Collaborate for other service delivery staff to ensure smooth transition among functions.  

Review all enrollment information and make recommendations for participation in the program based on this information.  Assess and apply factors contributing to a successful match.  

Maintain documentation to assure accountability, effectiveness and efficiency.

Continually assess the match relationship focusing on child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction.  Match support is provided on a frequency according to BBBS standards.

Assess and provide for individual coaching needs, information and support needs for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, and successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer.

Effectively use active and attentive listening to confirm understanding, coach others using reflective questioning; personalize communication content and delivery to fit different perspectives, backgrounds or styles of audience; document ionformation about matches clearly and concisely to keep records accurate and up to date.  

Conduct closure meetings with matches and assess reasons for match closure and re-match potential.

Meet or exceed match goals as set by BBBS.

Engage in quality support and abide by BBBS standards.

Effectively utilize survey tools to assess match impact on youth development and in meeting BBBS standards.

Available on occasional evenings and weekends to support program activities and events, as well as to best reach clients.  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant youth serving experience or a degree in a human service related field or education.  Experience working with adults and children from all walks of life.  

Candidate must be dependable, organized, have a strong work ethic, an optimistic resilient personality, be coachable, values and respects policies and standards and is committed to improving the lives of young people.

Must have a reliable automobile, valid drivers' license and auto insurance

Understanding of child development and family dynamics

Ability to collect meaningful data and draw solid conclusions

Ability to work independently exercising good judgement, decision making and problem solving skills

Ability to succeed in a fast paced environment required

Understanding of confidentiality and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information required

Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting solid customer service both in person and via the telephone - approximately 40% of time will be spent on the phone contacting volunteers, parent/guardians, and Littles
