1.    Possess knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping terminology and practices.
2.    Become acclimated with current non-profit grant accounting guidelines/procedures, program/system updates, revisions, and policy changes.
3.    Understand automated accounting systems, spreadsheets, data software, general record keeping, and filing systems.
4.    Process payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers, employee reimbursements, and statements.
5.    Verify items billed against items ordered, received, and reconcile differences through follow-up with vendors or other sources.
6.    Compare data from a variety of sources for accuracy and completeness.
7.    Review online transactions for changes and accuracy.
8.    Disburse funds using automated check-writing software and make changes according to specific instructions.
9.    Assist in the preparation of financial reports to government agencies, assuring adherence to the applicable regulations and audit guidelines.
10.    Perform functions at the lowest cost, consistent with performance.
11.    Perform general journal entries.
12.    Monitor and maintain general ledger.
13.    Other duties as assigned by management.

•    This job requires an associate’s degree in accounting or related field. A bachelor’s degree in similar/related fields is preferred.
•    Computer literate, experienced with word processing, and spreadsheet software programs.  Ability to adapt to new computer programs.  Experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office 365 is preferred.
•    Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.
•    Ability to work effectively alone as well as in a team environment with minimal supervision.
•    Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and can meet deadlines.
•    Ability to carry out job responsibilities with attention to detail.
•    Demonstrate the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
•    It is preferred that the candidate have work experience with a non-profit organization.
