Director, Data and Research

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Position MHC as a trusted leading voice on healthcare workforce issues in Michigan and the nation and strategically enhance the research enterprise. Produce high value, high quality and professionally presented research and analysis of healthcare workforce data that our programs, partners and stakeholders rely on to inform decision making around healthcare workforce development resources including but not limited to supply and demand projections.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help shape, articulate, implement and manage MHC’s research agenda.
  • Conduct research and analysis of issues including preparation of reports, white papers, journal publications, and other materials.
  • Disseminate findings and implications of data analysis projects, project evaluation, research or other activities
  • Proactively pursue and lead the development and expansion of research-oriented activities with external partners and funders.
  • Coordinates with external partners on research and evaluation needs, efforts and represents MHC as needed
  • Develop proposals to fund or initiate research, evaluation or special projects.
  • Identify sustainable funding streams and business models to fund research and evaluation activities
  • Contribute to development of new business opportunities for MHC
  • Manage and coordinate multiple complex initiatives and projects simultaneously

Education:  Master’s degree required.  PhD preferred.

Experience:  A minimum of three years of research and evaluation experience. Experience healthcare sector preferred but not required.

Desired Skills and Characteristics: 

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of research models, methodology and processes
  • Demonstrated expertise in successfully designing and carrying out quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation processes
  • Experience with research and evaluation software packages including statistical analysis packages qualitative evaluation software, survey software and data visualization software.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple complex initiatives and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to compose reports, presentations and written communication in an organized, logical and concise manner
  • Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex information externally across a wide range or stakeholders and constituencies
