Michigan Nonprofit Association is a statewide membership organization that achieves its mission by advocating for the nonprofit sector. We champion and connect organizations to strengthen nonprofits and the communities they serve.
Charitable nonprofit organizations throughout Michigan improve lives, strengthen communities and the economy, and lighten the burdens of government, taxpayers, and society as a whole.
MNA advocates for nonprofits at many levels of government - federal, state, local, legislative, executive, and regulatory - to educate policymakers and others about the work and impact of nonprofits.
Michigan nonprofit organizations number more than 53,000. Charitable nonprofits (501c3s) number more than 41,000. Of those 41,700 501c3s, 93% have revenues of less than $1 million.
Nonprofits are vital to Michigan’s economy. Our state’s nonprofits employ almost 11% of Michigan’s workforce. They serve as anchor institutions in communities both large and small, benefiting the health, well-being, education and environment of our residents. Michigan’s nonprofit sector is geographically diverse, with organizations in every county. The nonprofit sector also contributes significantly to the economic health of our region.
