Coordinator, Partnerships & Engagement

I. QUALIFICATIONS 

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, community development, public administration, education, nonprofit management, social sciences, business, marketing, human services, or a related experience, along with two to three years of professional experience in community engagement, outreach coordination, partnership development, stakeholder relations, project coordination, education, nonprofit, or public service environments. 

 

The successful candidate is highly organized, proactive, relationship-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Strong interpersonal, communication, relationship-building, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills are essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders including students, families, schools, colleges, employers, community organizations, government agencies, and external partners. 

 

Proficiency with Microsoft and Google suites, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, project management software, virtual meeting technology, and data tracking systems is required. Experience supporting community outreach initiatives, partnership development efforts, stakeholder engagement activities, event coordination, public presentations, volunteer engagement, or community-based programs is preferred. 

 

Experience working within education, workforce development, community engagement, higher education, nonprofit organizations, youth-serving organizations, or collective impact initiatives is highly desirable. Bilingual communication skills and experience working with diverse populations are a plus. 

II. POSITION SUMMARY 

The Coordinator, Partnerships & Engagement serves as an integral member of the Detroit Promise Partnerships & Engagement team and supports the planning, coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of partnership development, stakeholder engagement, community outreach, and relationship management activities that advance Detroit Promise priorities. 

Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, the Coordinator supports strategic engagement efforts that strengthen connections between Detroit Promise and schools, colleges and universities, employers, community-based organizations, government agencies, and other partners. The position helps increase awareness of Detroit Promise programs and services, expand and strengthen partnerships, and create coordinated pathways connecting students and families to Detroit Promise opportunities and resources. 

 

The Coordinator manages partner and stakeholder engagement workflows, supports partner onboarding and ongoing communication, coordinates outreach activities and events, maintains engagement records and systems, and tracks partnership commitments and outcomes. The Coordinator also uses stakeholder feedback, engagement data, and organizational systems to strengthen outreach effectiveness, improve operational efficiency, and support continuity and accountability across Detroit Promise. 

III. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (or FUNCTIONS): 

Partnership & Community Engagement Coordination 

  • Coordinate partnership initiatives that advance Detroit Promise priorities and strengthen relationships with stakeholders across Detroit and the surrounding region.  
  • Serve as an organizational contact for schools, colleges and universities, employers, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, civic groups, government agencies, and other partners participating in Detroit Promise initiatives.  
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with external stakeholders through consistent communication, meetings, engagement activities, and collaborative initiatives.  
  • Coordinate meetings, presentations, information sessions, and stakeholder discussions that support partnership development and organizational priorities.  
  • Maintain ongoing communication with partners regarding Detroit Promise programs, opportunities, deadlines, resources, commitments, and engagement activities.  
  • Assist in identifying and developing new partnership opportunities aligned with Detroit Promise priorities and student success objectives.  
  • Coordinate onboarding of new partners, including communications, resources, documentation, expectations, and appropriate internal connections.  
  • Track partner commitments, deliverables, collaborative initiatives, follow-up activities, and relationship status to support accountability and successful implementation.  
  • Prepare meeting agendas, presentations, briefing documents, reports, and stakeholder communications supporting partnership activities.  
  • Coordinate internally to ensure relevant partner information, opportunities, needs, and commitments are communicated to the appropriate Detroit Promise teams.  
  • Represent Detroit Promise professionally in partner meetings and external engagements.  
  • This removes much of the overlap currently occurring between the first two responsibility sections 

Outreach Operations & Stakeholder Relationship Management 

  • Coordinate outreach workflows that support community awareness, stakeholder engagement, student and family outreach, and organizational initiatives. 
  • Develop, maintain, and execute stakeholder communication schedules in coordination with appropriate Detroit Promise teams. 
  • Coordinate outreach communications including emails, newsletters, informational materials, presentations, engagement campaigns, and follow-up communications. 
  • Maintain outreach calendars and engagement schedules to support timely and coordinated communication. 
  • Coordinate distribution of outreach materials, informational resources, toolkits, presentations, promotional items, and other organizational resources. 
  • Respond to routine stakeholder inquiries and route program-specific, student-specific, partnership, or service-related matters to the appropriate Detroit Promise team. 
  • Monitor stakeholder engagement and outreach activity to support timely follow-up and identify gaps or opportunities. 
  • Support implementation of community engagement strategies designed to increase awareness, participation, and connection to Detroit Promise. 
  • Assist with community ambassador, volunteer, and other stakeholder engagement initiatives as assigned. 
  • Monitor stakeholder feedback and emerging community needs and communicate relevant trends to the Manager, Partnerships & Engagement. 

Data Management, Reporting & Continuous Improvement 

  • Maintain complete and timely stakeholder, partner, meeting, event, outreach, and engagement records within designated CRM and organizational systems. 
  • Document partner contacts, commitments, meetings, follow-up activities, engagement history, and relationship status to support organizational continuity and accountability. 
  • Monitor engagement activity and regularly review records for accuracy, completeness, and data integrity. 
  • Generate reports, dashboards, stakeholder summaries, and engagement tracking tools that support planning and decision-making. 
  • Track partnership outcomes, stakeholder engagement metrics, participation trends, commitments, and outreach effectiveness indicators. 
  • Support data collection and reporting related to partnership and community engagement activities. 
  • Use engagement data and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities to improve outreach, communication, workflows, and partner experiences. 
  • Recommend and implement process improvements within the scope of the position. 
  • Maintain organized documentation and historical records to support institutional knowledge and continuity. 

Events, Workshops & Engagement Activities 

  • Coordinate community outreach events, partner convenings, information sessions, workshops, stakeholder meetings, fairs, and other engagement activities. 
  • Coordinate scheduling, registration, logistics, venue preparation, communications, materials, and other operational needs. 
  • Collaborate with Student Support, Prosperity, and other internal teams to determine appropriate program content and staffing for student-facing activities. 
  • Coordinate participant recruitment and outreach in collaboration with appropriate internal and external partners. 
  • Manage invitations, confirmations, reminders, agendas, presentations, and post-event communications. 
  • Coordinate participant feedback, attendance records, evaluation surveys, and event outcome tracking. 
  • Maintain outreach materials, event supplies, promotional items, displays, signage, and engagement resources. 
  • Represent Detroit Promise at conferences, fairs, community meetings, partner events, and public engagement opportunities as assigned. 

Team Collaboration & Organizational Support 

  • Collaborate across Detroit Promise teams to support organizational priorities and provide coordinated stakeholder experiences. 
  • Coordinate with Student Support when engagement activities identify individual student needs requiring coaching, intervention, or resource navigation. 
  • Coordinate with Prosperity when engagement activities identify career, employment, workforce, financial empowerment, alumni, or economic mobility opportunities. 
  • Share relevant partner opportunities, stakeholder feedback, and emerging community needs with appropriate teams. 
  • Participate in departmental planning, cross-functional projects, trainings, meetings, and organizational initiatives. 
  • Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented organizational culture. 

Additional Duties 

  • Support continuous improvement of engagement, outreach, reporting, and operational processes that strengthen organizational effectiveness. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
