TITLE: Community Impact Director
SUPERVISOR: Social Innovation Officer
DESCRIPTION: This position builds and strengthens relationships that connect people, organizations, and communities around shared goals. This role leads initiatives that foster civic participation, community collaboration, and engagement efforts that advance the organization’s mission and impact.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management
•Lead and manage MNA’s Census 2030 program, including outreach, education, and coordination with state and community partners.
•Support fundraising civic engagement initiatives through state and philanthropic partnerships.
•Manage MNA’s nonpartisan voter education work, including the Engaging New Voters Cohort: training nonprofits, ensuring compliance, collecting data, and evaluating outcomes.
•Oversee the Independent Citizens Redistricting Initiative, mobilizing nonprofits to promote fair and transparent redistricting processes.
•Strengthen relationships with trusted community leaders, especially in historically undercounted or underrepresented populations.
•Support statewide volunteerism and service initiatives, in partnership with the Michigan Community Service Commission and other stakeholders.
•Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure effective project oversight, alignment, and coordination related to MNA’s membership efforts.
Event Planning and Execution
•Lead MNA’s annual Civic and Community Engagement (CCE) Summit, including fundraising, logistics, programming, marketing, and evaluation.
•Support other MNA events such as press conferences, launches, and recognition ceremonies.
•Promote participation in key civic days (e.g., National Voter Registration Day, MLK Day, Earth Day).
Partnerships and External Engagement
•Build and maintain partnerships with nonprofits, funders, and local, state, and federal government agencies.
•Develop strategies to increase civic engagement in underrepresented communities.
•Represent MNA at meetings, community events, and conferences.
Communications and Outreach
•Collaborate with MNA’s Marketing & Communications team to create civic engagement materials and campaigns.
•Partner with ethnic and community media to reach diverse audiences.
•Serve as a spokesperson and presenter for MNA’s CCE initiatives.
Other Duties
•Support MNA’s broader mission and initiatives as assigned.

•This role requires regular, predictable in-person participation and cannot be performed fully remotely.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
•Minimum of three (3) years of experience in civic engagement, community relations, public policy advocacy, or project management, with a proven track record of building partnerships and driving community collaboration.
•Preferred experience in a nonprofit, foundation, or membership-based organization.
•Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, communications, journalism, or a related field.
SUPERVISORY ROLE

EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT
•This position is classified as exempt and does not receive overtime pay compensation.
LOCATION
•Candidates must reside in Michigan or be willing to relocate to the state.
•This role requires regular, predictable in-person participation and cannot be performed fully remotely.
•In-person responsibilities will take place statewide across Michigan, with a strong focus in the Lansing area.
•MNA also hosts periodic in-person gatherings that bring the full team together for collaboration, connection, and planning.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE – MNA believes great work deserves great support!
•Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
