Camp Health Officer & Regional Nurse Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  1. Establish health policies in coordination with camp medical consultants, ensuring compliance with state licensing requirements and HFM expectations.
  2. Work with Great Lakes Regional Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTCs) to ensure nursing coverage and emergency response protocols for HFM camps, events and programs.
  3. Recruitment and planning camp health center staffing by developing relationships with regional hemophilia treatment centers.
  4. Camp health center preparation and set up including health center staff orientation and training. Work with parents, guardians and hemophilia treatment centers to ensure complete, current medical records and treatment plans for each camper.
  5. Oversee/supervise camp health center operations, including onsite presence during HFM’s camping programs.
  6. Together with camp leadership, develop and integrate health education into camp-related activities.
  7. Work with Great Lakes Regional leadership and Great Lakes Regional HTCs to develop educational programming and resources.
  8. Coordinate with regional leadership and HTCs to develop regional nursing collaboratives.
  9. Participate in regional activities, including meetings, working groups, and committees.
  10. Collaborate with regional team in grant management related activities and tasks.
  11. Assist with Great Lakes Regional Meeting development and implementation.
  12. Participate in full staff meetings/program staff meetings.
  13. Attend statewide, regional and national meetings when warranted.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be 21 years of age or older
    • Must maintain high ethical standards
    • Must have valid Registered Nurse (RN) license at a minimum
    • Previous camp experience preferred
    • Experience with program planning preferred
    • Experience working with children with bleeding disorders preferred

      • Consistent and thorough medical charting
      • Self-motivated
      • Strong leadership abilities
      • Ability to work effectively in a summer camp setting
