Annual Giving and Communications Coordinator/Manager

As the cornerstone of philanthropy at The Roeper School, the Annual Fund plays a critical role in advancing the school's mission and cultivating a culture of generosity. The Annual Giving and Communications Manager/Coordinator will inherit a growing program and will work in close collaboration with the Development Team. This position holds opportunities for growth and reports to the Director of Development. 

You will be successful in this highly interactive role if you excel in planning, communication, creative writing, technical, and interpersonal skills. If you have a love of philanthropy and education, with a creative and analytical side, this may be the position for you.  The Coordinator/Manager must be detail-oriented, able to effectively and responsibly make independent decisions and thrive in a busy, collaborative, and responsive workplace. The Annual Giving and Communications Coordinator/Manager, as a member of the Roeper community, is expected to know, value, and reflect the Roeper Philosophy in interactions with the internal and external community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual giving program including giving campaigns, appeals, events, and initiatives with a focus on participation, donor acquisition, retention, and revenue.
  • Develop strategic goals, priorities, and timetables, in collaboration with the Development Team.
  • Create dynamic campaign communications including solicitations, case statements, fundraising materials, acknowledgements, and receipts through all communications channels.
  • Use storytelling to create regular donor communication impact updates for constituent segments via Raisers Edge NXT email and/or print.
  • Engage volunteers and stakeholders to amplify campaigns, inspire participation, and champion annual giving across the community.
  • Lead, support, and recruit volunteers for the Annual Fund Committee.
  • Track and analyze fundraising results utilizing the donor database, Raisers Edge NXT, to ensure progress, efficacy, successful implementation, and continuous improvement of initiatives.
  • Make and/or assign donor thank-you calls, letters, and emails to ensure proper and timely donor recognition and stewardship.
  • Support donor stewardship and retention strategies, in collaboration with the Development Team, to develop, manage, and grow donor relationships.
  • Support a strategic focus on increased alumni/ae and alumni/ae parent giving including opportunities around reunion giving, post-event follow-ups, and giving days.
  • Utilize Raisers Edge NXT to analyze data and identify giving trends and opportunities.
  • Prepare reports on all fundraising activities as needed.
  • Track and support the stewardship of the donor pipeline, in collaboration with the Development Team, to support financial growth and sustainability of The Roeper School.
  • Oversee bulk mail initiatives to ensure copy reaches all constituents.
  • Utilize social media channels and school publications, in coordination with the Marketing Team, to support annual giving efforts.
  • Work closely with the gift manager to utilize and understand the fundraising database and gift processing.
  • Cultivate, build and sustain donor programs among a diverse and varied group of constituents

 

General

  • Provide support for all fundraising events, in collaboration with the Development Team.
  • Participate in the creation of Development Department plans, goals, and strategies.
  • Represent the Annual Fund at select school community functions which may occur on evenings and weekends.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development to advance annual giving goals.
  • Maintain affiliation with professional fundraising organizations.
  • Participate in meetings and events that may require out of state travel.
  • Utilize skills to contribute to the School’s goal to provide a multicultural and culturally relevant program, in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Three to five years of demonstrated experience in fundraising or external affairs, marketing, communications/PR, or another similar field.
  • Experience in fundraising is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues, leadership, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize and implement programs to meet goals.
  • Effectively work independently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  • Extensive experience with Raisers Edge NXT or similar constituent database or willingness to learn.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes periodic evening and weekend events.
  • Willing to periodically travel, locally and out of state meetings and events
  • Ability to form collaborative work relationships to facilitate project completion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work in order to perform responsibilities perform responsibilities in accordance with Roeper's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice
