The law clerk position requires a candidate who has completed at least one year of law school at an accredited institution and is in good standing. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Additionally, the candidate should be able to work effectively with low-income clients, demonstrate strong analytical skills to identify and understand legal issues, and be capable of working under pressure while meeting deadlines. A team player mentality is essential, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Extensive research
  • Performing client interviews
  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence
  • Determine case priority
  • Advise and counsel clients
  • File maintenance
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor or attorney in charge

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have completed at least one year of law school at an accredited institution.
  • Must be in good standing at an accredited law school.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with the geographic service area of the client population
  • Ability to work effectively with low-income clients
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and understand legal issues
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
  • Possession of a valid driver's license to attend court hearings

This is a paid part-time position; however, consideration will be given to internship/externship program participants. The hourly rate is $18.00 per hour.   Position will be assigned to our Redford, Michigan divisional office.
