The Child and Family Services Supervisor provides direct supervision, support, and leadership to a team of up to five (5) Child and Family Services Specialists (AIH/FC Dual Workers). This position ensures the delivery of high-quality Advanced In-Home (AIH) parent education and Foster Care (FC) case management services, grounded in family-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices.
Responsibilities include supervising staff, reviewing documentation for accuracy and compliance, and providing coaching and performance feedback to strengthen staff skills. The Supervisor also collaborates with MDHHS, courts, and community partners to promote child safety, family stability, and permanency. By guiding staff in implementing evidence-based practices and ensuring adherence to DHHS, DCWL, and agency requirements, the Supervisor plays a critical role in achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holiday availability, to respond to client or staff needs.
Supervise, coach, and support Child and Family Services Specialists across assigned counties.
Conduct at least monthly individual supervision and facilitate regular team meetings.
Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to staff, including corrective action when necessary.
Assist with onboarding and orientation of new staff to ensure program consistency.
Ensure staff utilize evidence-based curricula such as Parents as Teachers and Nurturing Parenting.
Maintain productive relationships with MDHHS, courts, and community service providers.
Attend PAFC/DHHS collaboration meetings, case conferences, family team meetings, and court hearings as needed.
Represent AOI at community events, trainings, and partnership meetings.
Participate in staff hiring, evaluations, and performance management.
Oversee foster care case management to ensure compliance with DHHS policies, DCWL rules, and agency contracts.
Review service plans, reports, and documentation for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
Monitor caseload distribution and balance foster care assignments across staff.
Provide guidance to staff on case planning, permanency goals, and family engagement strategies.
Ensure staff attend all required court hearings, DHHS staffings, and case conferences.
Support staff in crisis intervention and provide consultation for complex cases.
Ensure consistent implementation of AOI policies and procedures related to foster care.
Provide direct service to families in crisis or when coverage is needed to ensure continuity of care.
Ensure parent education services follow evidence-based, strength-based, and trauma-informed approaches.
Oversee staff documentation of home visits, safety planning, and progress monitoring.
Review family service plans to ensure they meet DHHS requirements and program goals.
Provide staff with coaching on modeling parenting strategies and supporting positive family interactions.
Monitor staff efforts to connect families with community resources such as housing, childcare, healthcare, and employment.
Ensure staff maintain compliance with DHHS timelines and reporting standards.
Ensure consistent implementation of AOI policies and procedures related to AIH.
Provide direct service to families in crisis or when coverage is needed to ensure continuity of care.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Family Studies, Child Development, or related field required; MSW or advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in child welfare, family preservation, or related services, including at least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience.
Strong leadership and staff supervision skills.
Knowledge of child development, parenting interventions, trauma-informed care, and foster care systems.
Effective communication, presentation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems.
Successful completion of criminal/abuse and sex offender registry checks.
Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
