DAPCEP is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant for a part-time, non-exempt position in Detroit. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role is responsible for supporting the financial department through the processing of payments, management of invoices, and the meticulous updating of financial records. The position primarily operates during standard business hours, though some evening and weekend work is required.

The successful candidate will manage a wide range of typical accounting duties, including data entry, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processing. A key focus of the role is ensuring all transactions remain compliant with GAAP and organizational requirements. Additionally, the assistant will track restricted and unrestricted funds by grant and program, while maintaining organized filing systems for both digital and physical records.

Qualified applicants must possess an Associate degree or higher in a business-related field and at least three years of experience in a similar nonprofit role. Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Premier for Nonprofits and QuickBooks Online is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong technical skills in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, alongside the ability to work effectively in a remote accounting environment.

Beyond technical expertise, the role requires high levels of integrity, business acumen, and excellent communication skills to build relationships with staff, partners, and funders. The Finance Assistant is expected to take initiative in improving accounting processes and must be able to assist the Finance Director with audit preparations and board meetings as needed.
