Position Overview
Christ Church Cranbrook seeks a Welcome & Engagement Coordinator to invite, welcome and connect people into the life of the parish. This role welcomes first-time guests, guides them toward meaningful next steps in their faith journey, and nurtures belonging through intentional follow‑up and relationship‑building. The Coordinator also supports new and long-time members alike in finding pathways into service, fellowship and formation, fostering an inclusive community that reflects Christ’s love.
Key Responsibilities
First Impressions & Guest Follow-Up

- Oversee the welcome experience for visitors and newcomers, including “Plan a Visit” participants.
- Manage guest follow‑up processes and track next steps for engagement.
- Assist clergy at newcomer events such as open houses, church tours, and new member classes.
- Work with staff and clergy to create best practices and first impressions in each ministry, program, and event.
- Work with physical spaces to make them more inviting, accessible, and user-friendly (e.g. signs, check-in kiosks).
Connection & Engagement
- Serve as liaison with clergy and ministry leaders to connect parishioners into service opportunities, ministries, fellowship groups, and formation offerings.
- Identify and guide not-yet-connected members into deeper involvement with ministries and programs within the church.
- Administer annual Time & Talent Surveys, Spiritual Gift Inventories, Ministry Fairs and Small Group campaigns.
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to help them recruit, welcome, onboard, and mentor new volunteers.
- Maintain membership databases and engagement tracking systems; work with staff and leaders to monitor participation.
- Participate regularly in worship services, meetings, staff functions, and key parish events.
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.
Parish Administration
- Provide administrative support to adult formation, stewardship programs, and parish events as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Rector’s Office Staff, providing assistance with the administrative needs of other departments and offices at the Rector’s discretion.
Qualifications & Skills
- Outgoing, relational, and energized by networking and social interaction.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on guest and volunteer engagement.
- Process-oriented, with a strong understanding of systems and workflows.
- A heart for welcoming, celebrating, and inviting all people.
- Comfort in standing and walking for prolonged periods of time while working at events.
- Proficiency with productivity suites (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and database/CRM/ChMS platforms to manage and track parishioner engagement
- Maturity of character, cultural sensitivity, compassion, spiritual curiosity and a willingness to meet people where they are.
- Commitment to confidentiality and privacy.
- An enjoyment of creative problem-solving and working collaboratively.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask while managing different deadlines.
- Full acceptance and celebration of the diversity inherent in all people.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or equivalent is preferred.
