Position Summary: The Annual Fund Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of annual giving strategies and activities with the goal of growing unrestricted giving. This growth includes both stewarding current donors to higher levels of giving as well as new donor acquisition.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as an ambassador of PAWS, seeking opportunities to engage and promote PAWS publicly
- Work with the Chief Advancement Officer to create a comprehensive fundraising plan and appeal schedule for the PAWS annual fund, including but not limited to, setting quantitative and qualitative goals, identifying and implementing appeal strategies, and utilizing a multi-dimensional appeal schedule across a variety of mediums
- Write, edit, and proof direct mail and electronic content including appeals, email solicitations, and other internal and external communications
- Create segmentation strategies to solicit different types and levels of donors
- Engage, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of Individual mid-level donors (ie. $500 - $2000) and donor giving groups stewarding to higher levels of annual giving
- Oversee and work with Development Operations Specialist to support donor acknowledgement and cultivation efforts as well as delivery of necessary reports
- Develop strong solicitation, engagement, and stewardship programs for key constituencies including clients and PAWS dog volunteers
- Manage annual fund foundations including acquisition, gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Manage the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), United Way and other workplace giving campaigns, including required administration and coordinating presentations
- Conduct semi-annual analysis of donor attrition and retention to determine tactical effectiveness
- Serve as liaison to the Community Engagement Committee, working to develop strategies to facilitate personal solicitation of prospects by committee members
- Utilize donor database record contacts, moves management, and details of relationship with donors
- Supervise and engage direct reports, overseeing professional development, performance reviews and disciplinary action

- Advanced supervision - Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for direct reports; ensuring quality and quantity of work. Holds decision making authority for employee life-cycle activities including hiring, training, promotions, compensation, performance management, coaching and terminations.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred in Nonprofit Management or comparative continuing education in fundraising and/or nonprofit management
- 3-5 years minimum of proven and successful fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector required
- Experience promoting and managing annual giving programs is required
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work some night and weekend hours
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software products
- Experience in donor database software
