The LEAGUE Michigan
The LEAGUE Michigan is a program for service, service-learning, and philanthropy education that builds character and empowers young people. The program combines calendar-based events, curriculum, and ongoing service throughout the school year to prepare youth and educators to make a positive impact in their communities. As a program affiliate of MNA since 2006, The LEAGUE Michigan builds the capacity of the nonprofit sector by educating K-12 students about civic engagement. In its 8-year history in Michigan, The LEAGUE has grown to serve over 900 classrooms in over 200 schools.
Michigan Campus Compact
Michigan Campus Compact is a coalition of college and university presidents committed to promoting the education and commitment of Michigan college students to be engaged citizens, through creating and expanding academic, co-curricular and campus-wide opportunities for community service, service-learning and civic engagement. When campuses, students and community come together, everyone benefits. Research shows that students retain more information from their classes, are inspired by education and are more likely to graduate and become community leaders, citizens and volunteers when engaged with their community in college. When the campus encourages involvement, community needs are addressed through research, partnerships, shared resources and volunteerism.
National Service Programs
Mentoring to Access Corps (MAC) is a Michigan Nonprofit Association program in partnership with Mentor Michigan and Michigan Campus Compact. MAC enrolls 25 AmeriCorps members and places them with youth-service and mentoring programs and college campuses across Michigan in order to increase college access for all students.
Michigan Nonprofit Association's Civic Engagement team, made up of The LEAGUE Michigan, Michigan Campus Compact, and Volunteer Centers of Michigan, expands efforts to reach across all areas of lifelong engagement through MNA. MNA Civic Engagement AmeriCorps VISTA members will be placed with K-12 schools, college campuses, or volunteer connector organizations and will serve a portion of their service hours off site with a community partner. MNA VISTAs promote and strengthen community-building initiatives focused on education and economic opportunity.
